The PIMMS TRANSFER project

PIMMS TRANSFER is a three year project, running from 2008 to 2011.
The project is funded under the European Union's INTERREG IVC programme, which promotes the exchange of good practices between regions.

The Lead Partner is  London Councils through LEPT

PIMMS TRANSFER will EXTEND, DEEPEN and PROMOTE the transfer methodology developed in PIMMS on Mobility Management (project funded under INTERREG IIIC).

Mobility Management:

Mobility Management is the tool by which Economic, Environmental and Health benefits can be simultaneously achieved by introducing soft transport policy measures rewarding:

  • Government (local, regional and national)
  • Individual travellers (commuting and leisure)
  • Businesses

By increasing the proportion of walking, cycling and car sharing through the introduction of mobility plans (travel plans), flexible working, training and awareness raising events, the following benefits are reaped:

  • Less congestion in cities
  • Reduced CO2 emissions
  • Increased fitness, wellbeing, productivity at work and longer life
  • Decreased inactivity, obesity, heart disease and health care costs
  • Avoiding costly new infrastructure by fully utilising existing capacity
  • Increased recruitment and retention of employees

You can find more details on Mobility Management on the EPOMM website.
